Using FREEBAC we have treated thousands of so called “persistent Legionella cases”
worldwide.
In most cases prior treatment had been hot water, chlorine, hyper chlorination, chlorine
dioxine or some other chemical or system. In all cases, treatment with FREEBAC solved
the problem quickly, effectively and more importantly permanently.
The reason: A good legionella biocide needs to demonstrate the following properties:
The reason why “traditional treatment” don’t work is:
Legionella is a BIOFILM problem and as long as the biofilm remains in the system
legionella will reoccur. Hot water, chlorine or hyper chlorination do not affect
biofilm.
They do kill free swimming legionella - at least those that haven’t become resistant
- but as the majority are safe inside the biofilm where they are protected from the
effects of hot water, chlorine and most other biocides, a re-infection of the water
will rapidly occur.
Continual dosing:
FREEBAC is increasingly being used in continual dosing systems within buildings.
Once the system is clear from biofilm, a residual dosage is injected into the system
to prevent biofilm from re-establishing itself and to kill any micro-organism that
enters the system. In our experience nothing works better.
Continual dosing saves money:
- Lower energy bill as water no longer needs to be heated to above 60oC
- Lower water consumption as you no longer need to rince out systems.
- Saving in cleaning costs.
- Single chemical, no need for any other so called prevention system or “gatekeeper”.
Dosed at 20 - 50 ml / m3 of water, FREEBAC is perfectly safe for human consumption,
destroys all micro-organisms and prevents biofilm formation.
